Who's in charge? Khepri and Obelisk are the administrators of RH. They're the ones who first birthed the idea, and then built on it, dragging two of their close friends (Chenoa and Zeko) into the mix, and thus RH was born.
Who's in charge of the North? South? East? West?
North: That would be the lovely Chenoa's area. She's a highly respected member of staff and a co-founder of RH itself. She's also the most adorable little beagle in existence.
East: The eastern territory belongs to Colonel Clipper (Obelisk), an older, retired police K9-unit. Obelisk is the co-administrator, and deserves a lot of respect from other members as well.
West: Suburbia is territory to the lovable canine, Zeko, who is also a co-founder of RH. Zeko's a mix of several massive breeds, and demands just as much respect as his player does.
South: The slums are Khepri's turf. She's a strange pitbull/heeler mix, and holds her title as 'junkyard queen' better than most would think. Respect her, as you would respect her player.
What are each of the main (cardinal) divisions like?
New North: This area's the place for all of 'high class' society. All the rich humans and pure-bred canines call this area home, where single homes can take up a block or two on their own. This area brings to a completely different meaning 'living the life of luxury.' The area consists of gentle rolling hills and sparse backwood property where the fresh air and wild life have been invaded by high class suburbia. This is also the most highly populated area in Bellrose... actually, it's pretty much the only populated area in the entire city.
Eastern Harbor: A dilapidated dock yard where seagulls are a constant annoyance, along with a few pelicans who take up residence in nearby abandoned warehouses. Near the docks there are the remains of what was once a cargo area, where tall, wide and rectangular buildings have seen better days. The shores of the bay are rocky and littered with debris and garbage that washes ashore, if it manages to get past the hollowed out hulls of ships that still remain anchored out in the water to collect dust and rust.
Western Suburbs: This area is the second most populated area of Bellrose. It's still kept in decent condition as most of the middle and lower class citizens call this area home. Basically, this is the town's residential area, or the suburbs. There are a few well-kept parks in the area where the children still come and play, and the streets are still well tended. The best way to explain this area is the common, every-day scenery most people see; small town parks and one-story houses and apartment complexes lining the streets between corner convenient stores.
Southern Slums: The name says it all. The slums is a contestant with the east for the most derelict area of Bellrose. The lower-class members of the human society reside here, and it is the same for the canines as well, whether they're frowned upon for their breed or behavior, they are all rejected in some way or another, and have in a sense banded together, though one could hardly call them a 'pack'. The buildings here are boarded up, run-down, abandoned and collapsing where they stand. The streets are in disrepair, and the animals are no exception; they go where they please, and will most certainly fight for whatever they want.
Neutral Central Territory: Yes, there is a neutral territory. However, it's a very limited space, but it is a safe zone, as far as canine meetings and councils are concerned. This area is found underground by taking the subway tunnels. It is situated in the very center of Bellrose, and the area above ground is also considered 'neutral' territory, and no canine dares to shed another's blood there. The worst that can be done is an exchange of rude words, and even that is limited when in the presence of Omni (a highly respected member of canine society that watches over the meetings and acts as a referee and councilor to all who seek his advice and wisdom).
The Outskirts: This is another neutral area where no cardinal alpha has influence. The outskirts are a haven for wandering strays or pets who do not wish to be affiliated with any of the respective alphas. It is here you can seek friendships, a meal, or just a fun time. Be wary though. If you get into a fight with another, there will be no alpha to mediate or offer you his or her protection. Recently there has been talk about a conspiracy within the outskirts, one that entails that there may be someone trying to claim the territory as their own. Whether this is true or just a rumor is not yet known.
I want to be an alpha, who do I talk to?
It used to be that you had to speak with the cardinals about this. Now, with the comic in construction, it's quite different. Seeing as there's a comic, there's also canon comic characters. If you want an alpha, check out the available comic characters, and send in a try-out for as many as you'd like!
Which areas are the main ones?
The docks, the skyline, Riverbottom park, and the junkyard. Simple enough, eh?
What state/condition is the city currently in?
The city is just like any other, heavily populated, though mostly in the high-class area. There are a good number of people in the residential areas as well. This means that there is an abundance of humans, yes, but unfortunately, at least half of the city has fallen into absolute disrepair. Because of this, the number of dogs has also gone a little out of control.
Currently, the only inhabitable areas for humans are the North and West... and all areas belong to the dogs.
What kind of species can I make?
Well, RH is mostly a canine roleplay site. However, to avoid being called 'species prejudice,' the Administrators have decided that most other animals are allowable. This means we'll gladly allow mostly dogs and cats, but the occasional 'uncommon' animal is welcome, such as a squirrel, bird, snake, rat, racoon, horse, etc. But anything that is not a feline or canine must first be cleared with an Admin before being played.
Also, there are NO humans here. You're more than welcome to integrate them into your posts and what have you, but aside from our antagonist, the 'Dog-Catcher,' there are to be NO human characters.
What breeds are allowed?
Any modern-day domesticated breeds, really. Mixes are allowed as well. Can't find something that sounds like it'd suit your fancy, huh? Try the American Kennel Club's breed listings for a better idea of what to make!
Am I allowed to have a yellow and pink polka-dotted pittbull?
... No, you are not. Here on RH, we are trying to keep things as realistic as possible. As was mentioned before, any modern-day breeds are a-ok, so a pitbull is definitely allowable. However, it must be stressed that relatively normal colored markings that conform to a breed's standards (or at least genetics) are what we're looking for. You don't need to be bright orange, but you're welcome to have slight alterations to appearance (docked tail, cropped ears) as well as accessories (collars, light piercings), and outrageously colored eyes are okay.
Can I have wings? Hair? Fire breathing abilities?
Again with the realistic approach people. Please... the rule applies here too. (And unless you're a long-haired breed... please avoid having 'bangs' or 'hair.')
I want to be a Great Pyrenees the size of a Clydesdale, how's that sound?
Realistic is what we're shooting for. If you want a big animal, look up larger breeds, but all characters must not exceed the maximum sizes and weights for their standard of breed. Great Pyrenees is fine, but not if he's as big as a horse. Seriously.
Do I have to be a stray?
No! Of course not! Strays are mostly found in the East and South, because they're run-down and free of humans. But, you're more than welcome to stick yourself with a loving family in either the West or North.
How many characters is each member allowed to have?
Well, as many as you want, I suppose, but for the sake of others and staff, it would be appreciated if you kept the number below... say 5 or so? Remember, it's no use hiding your identity, the staff CAN see your IP and match it to others. So, keep a damper on it, would you?
